Kirk Yetholm
About About this hostel
Kirk Yetholm Friends of Nature House, nestling below the picturesque village green, is the former village school and will have been offering hostel style accommodation for 80 years in 2022. Recently obtaining 3 Star Hostel, Walkers and Cyclists awards from Visit Scotland, the hostel is located at the start/end of the Pennine Way.
It's a classic stop for those walking St Cuthbert's Way and for cyclists on the Borderloop Cycle Route or Sustrans Route 84. An ideal base, too, for local day hikes by families and small groups.
Recently upgraded, the house offers a friendly and peaceful retreat after a day exploring the stunning countryside and local heritage. There's a comfortable lounge, a well equipped kitchen, seating for 18 in the dining area and secure bike storage. Evening meals and breakfast are available in the adjacent Border Hotel and there's a well stocked village shop and other eateries ten minutes walk away.

Reasons to visit
This small and friendly hostel sits on St Cuthbert's Way and Pennine Way and is surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Scottish Borders.
The local area is home to a number of abbeys and castles. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is nearby and a popular location for birdwatchers, artists, photographers and historians. The island is tidal and access is by a paved causeway which is covered by the North Sea twice every 24 hours, so please check the tide times if you're planning a visit.
For those looking to explore the surrounding countryside the hostel is an ideal base for day hikes and for those on two wheels the Borders Cycle Route is a good way to see the local countryside.
